Fantastic and recorded as effective (6 hours) with the Centers for Disease Control, the biology professor, a biochemist, I do not my repellent to chance. I insist on reading some of the peer-reviewed scientific studies before they are away from DEET repellent. Some papers on Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus or PMD aka OLE (the synthetic version) caught my eye that caused me to read. I was looking for information through the Center for Disease Control (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/westnile/RepellentUpdates.htm) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Both sites show that OLE truly tested and effective, but not equal (hours) to> 30% DEET. Armed with this information, I decided to OLE on a trip to an island (with marsh), Belize. * * We liked this product. Yes, you can be free of DEET and bite free from Astra Mare'm allergic to DEET. I was the only one in the back of the trips camping / hiking / fishing quietly feeding of millions of mosquitoes and other biting insects in misery for years until now. I have tried everything on the market and was always disappointed because all the products that contain DEET free, I tried that it triggered my allergy or simply did not work. This year, my doctor advised me to test the mosquito repellent DEET free, and I'm sold. The difference is like night and day. We took a trip to photograph butterflies and dragonflies in the swamps of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and I was bite free. Did not work on chiggers, but I do not think that it should do, I'm not sure it lasts as long as products containing DEET, my husband started using it exclusively as well, and has considered it more often than Products Off or Cutter are used to using it.
